PROJECT PROFILE

HOW DO WE HANDLE THE CRISIS?

Support the OVCs and care givers by seeing to it that these children receive food, clothing's, and medical care while under the protection of somebody the children knows.

We believe that the only way to help an orphaned child is through education, Sacu nursery school offers a holistic approach to a child's development through education and spiritual naturing.

Close to 18 percent of school-aged children are not enrolled in school, and the dropout rate averages 66 percent. This is because guardians cannot afford school fees and some children live on their own. Many families looking after orphans have limited resources and frequently go without food. Because of this, more than one in four children under age 5 is malnourished and has had their growth stunted. Many children have lost hope for a brighter future. Because of the hardships they have experienced and the conditions in which they live, they have developed a feeling that fate has doomed them to a life of poverty, hopelessness, and in many instances, an early death from AIDS. Many of the children have experienced the deaths of friends and loved ones and believe that they too will likely die of AIDS or another disease.

The question is who will care for these children. Save African child Uganda organization was established in 2008 and became active in 12th September 2010 the period I visited Uganda in response to the needs of children in Buwundo community. SACU is committed to restoring hope, dignity and purpose in the lives of these children, and raising them to be the future leaders of their nation.

No person or organization is too small to respond to the orphan crisis and no effort can be too little. It is humbling to hear of ordinary people, some scratching the surface for mere survival, giving up whatever little resources they have in response to the situation of these orphans.

Indeed, orphans have thrust upon all of us the challenge to take responsibility and act to make things better. The time for waiting for the next person to respond is gone – it is everybody's duty to take action, to see lives touched and hearts changed for the glory of God.

"Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him."

Psalms 126:5, 6.

We thank you our dear sponsors, donors, and friends of the orphans and needy children of Save African Child Uganda, for your continued support to bring a smile on the face of these young ones like Kawoma Muzeyi who couldn't smile before.
