In the light of these, Save African Child Uganda health service delivery system encompasses the following core areas of public health: -

Save African Child Uganda Comprehensive Plan for Managing HIV and AIDS.

• The plan holds a significant position in the international public health because of its largest and most ambitious HIV care. The plan is anchored on two important pillars:
It is a comprehensive program that includes: -

a. Ensuring that the great majority of people who are currently not infected with HIV remain uninfected (the messages of prevention and of changing lifestyles and behaviour are critically important in managing the spread of

HIV and the impact of AIDS).
b. Enhancing Efforts in the prophylaxis and treatment of opportunistic infections, improved nutrition and   lifestyles choices. At least breakfast and lunch is provided for the affected children in our school program.
• Effective Management of those HIV infected individuals who have developed opportunistic infections through appropriate treatment of AIDS related conditions

hazards in the environment which lead to untimely

death among adults and children

health teams with the necessary skills and knowledge

to effectively implement primary health care programs

using integrated health delivery package.

We have vitamin c pills that we give to our children every day.

They have done a very big improvement in the health of our children. Milabu is smiling with her food full of beans, posho and two boiled eggs.

iv)- Family planning reproductive health (FP/RH), & Maternal and child health (MCH) integration.

Providing information and access to birth control, promoting the health of pregnant women and unborn child, dispensing vaccinations to children are part of Save African Child Uganda maternal and child health service delivery areas of focus meant to improve the public health delivery systems, specifically for women, children and their families, especially through advocacy and research.
Save African Child Uganda in its efforts to increase sexual and reproductive health rights for better community competence, works to improve knowledge, practices, communication, and delivery of services to related reproductive health rights, especially through strategies which are meant to : -
a. Address and challenge cultural norms and practices that tend to inhibit access to reproductive health rights.
b. Enhance birth and emergency readiness planning including pregnancy risk factors and danger signs.
c. Mobilize pregnant women to deliver at health facilities
d. Facilitate family planning counselling and awareness about community-based distribution of contraceptives via our partnered healthy center (St. Charles Lwanga Buikwe hospital).
e. Enhance information dissemination and counseling intermittent preventive treatment (IPT) for malaria and use of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) as well as on nutrition, micro nutrient supplementation (iron and frolic acid), and tetanus toxoid vaccination.
f. Enhance Youth- friendly services for adolescent reproductive health

and responsible sexuality through life skills training.
g. Enhance encouraging testing of pregnant women and their

partners for HIV, providing advice and guidance, including

referral for prevention of mother- to- child transmission of

HIV (PMTCT) services whenever required,
h. Device other alternative channels of information dissemination

such as guardian’s meetings, music, dance and drama and other

public awareness-raising events promoting couple communication reproductive health and utilization of reproductive health services.

v)-Water, Hygiene and Sanitation:
Under this sector, Save African Child Uganda works to improve the health and economic status of the community through promotion of environmental hygiene and sanitation and access to clean and safe domestic water in order to reduce the risk of waterborne disease transmission (Faecal - oral cycle) and promote improved hygiene behaviour. Strategies for achieving this goal include institutional capacity building, information, education and communication that will lead to effective demand, adoption and implementation of appropriate water and environmental sanitation technologies in Buwundo village.

There is a general water problem in the area.
The only proximate source of water is shallow wells next to dirty swamps.
When it rains, all the water in the village runs down to the wells.

These water sources dry up during very dry seasons.

The nearest well serves the radius of 6 kilometers and is used by teachers,

children and the surrounding villagers.
Traditionally it is left to the children to fetch water and disrupts the lives of

children as they have to walk long distances and wait for many hours in

congested water source. Because of the difficulty of getting water from the well,

people resort to their traditional shallow open wells for water. They drink this water,

use it for washing, cooking bathing, beer brewing and watering their animals.

These water sources are therefore, shared by animals and human beings alike.

We aim at installing one borehole in Buwundo village to serve close to 2,000 people.

This borehole could be used for different purposes in the village, neighboring schools and save people especially the children from long distance traveling moreover on foot - to fetch water especially during the dry season from stagnant water well.
This would effectively reduce incidence of waterborne diseases and enable the people to have access to clean water leaving children to go to school and to develop as children.
The project could then be rolled out to ensure that there is a bore-hole for 2000 persons or 100 households. There would also be training on water safety methods and water-sources maintenance.
